                                                Nominating Committee Distributes 2012 Recommendations

This morning there are copies available of the Nominating Committee’s 2012 Committee Recommendations.
Tonight during Church Conference we will be voting on these recommendations, and so they wanted you to
have a copy of these in advance. We are so grateful for those who are willing to serve the Lord in various
ways each year. Thank you for your willingness to serve!

                                                               Hoops Awards Banquet Next Sunday Night

Next Sunday night, February 26, is the Hoops Awards Banquet. The event begins with a meal at 5:00pm and
the ceremony at 6:00pm. See Trudi or Meghan if you are interested in volunteering for this big outreach
event. It will take lots of volunteers to host this meal ranging from setting up the stage, tables and chairs to
preparing and serving the food to clean up afterwards.

                                                                 Habitat for Humanity Garage Sale

Habitat for Humanity is hosting a Giant Garage Sale on Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Community Outreach Center
(2002 Hwy. 71 South). All proceeds will go toward the construction of the next Habitat house. Donations to
the sale will be accepted Tuesday – Thursday, Feb. 21-24 from 9am-1pm. For more information about
donations you may call Lois Bryan at 979-732-8332.

                                                   Rejoicing in the Lord Over Fruit in Good News Club

Good News Club only has a couple of more meetings left in their school year (2/22 & 2/29). We are joining
with Joann Obenhaus and other Good News Club team members as they thank the Lord for 34 decisions for
Christ that have been made during the school year. Each child who made a decision was personally
counseled regarding assurance of salvation. Some children who made decisions, although moving in the
right direction were not quite ready. But, these 34 children truly understood what it meant to be born again.

                                                                      Food Pantry Ministry This Year

If you are an advance planner, please mark the following dates on your calendar to assist with the Columbus
Food Pantry. We are scheduled to help on April 19-20 and September 20-21. The new home for the Food
Pantry is the Community Outreach Center. If you help on Thursdays, we need to be there at 9:00am. If you
help on Fridays, the times are 10:30am-12:00noon and 1:00-2:00pm. This is a great way to serve families in
our community!

                                                                  Mission Opportunity in Nicaragua

There is a need for two volunteers to serve this summer in Nicaragua from June 8-16, 2012. Adrian Mingo
will be teaching several area pastors in two locations, but they need two people from our church to teach 3-4
VBS lessons to the children of the pastors in the two locations. Translation will be provided by the Mingo
children. The total cost for airfare, lodging and food is $1250. See Don Dishman if you are interested in this
opportunity.
